Saturday games

In a battle for the Florida State champions, No. 17 St. Thomas Aquinas defeated No. 41 Cardinal Gibbons. The 7A champions retaliated after losing to Gibbons last year.

STA wide receiver Cameron Brown, a verbal commitment from Pitt, had a big play with six catches for 111 yards with two touchdowns. Gemari Sands scored three touchdowns – two rushing and one receiving.

friday games

Allen took control of the 5-6A District with a 38-31 win over Denton Guyer, who came into play ranked 24th on the High School Football America 100.

The Eagles used strong groundplay and rushed for 357 yards. Jaylen Jenkins rushed for 190 yards and three touchdowns, plus he added 70 receiving yards.

Allen will improve on his national No. 63 ranking when the new top 100 is released on Sunday.

Thursday games

No. 2 Westlake (Texas) bowled to a 77-0 shutout by Hays (Texas). The Chaps, who won their 31st straight win, did it without star quarterback Cade Klubnik, who is recovering from an injury.

Star quarterback Sam Horn, who has verbally committed to Missouri, caught up with four touchdown passes.

No. 26 Bixby (Oklahoma) extended his winning streak to 43 in a row with a 58-14 win over Sand Spring (Oklahoma). The win was the 100th for Spartans head coach Loren Montgomery, who has guided Bixby to six state championships in 12 seasons.

Also in Oklahoma, No. 37 Jenks defeated Edmond Santa Fe in a replay of last year’s Class 6A Division I championship game. The defending champions defeated Wolves 35-14 after falling 14-10 behind.
