Isaiah Mobley, a former 5-star recruit at Rancho Christian, was drafted 49th overall 2022 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday.
Mobley played three seasons at USC and averaged career-high averages of 14.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.9 blocks per game as a junior. He shot 49.2% from the field, 35.2% from three, and a career-high 68.2% from the free throw line.
Before he became a Trojan, the 6-10, 240-pound power forward/center was one of the top high school players in the country and helped build Rancho Christian into a domestic empire powerhouse. He averaged over 19 points and 11 rebounds per game, along with about four APGs both as a junior and senior, and was a 2018-19 McDonald’s All-American.
Mobley joins his younger brother and former high school teammate Evan Mobley in the Cavaliers emerging from a resurgent 44-38 campaign, thanks in part to Mobley’s new signing.
Evan Mobley, the third overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft, averaged 15 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.7 blocks per game in 69 starts as a power forward and center. He was named to the All-Rookie First Team and placed third in the Rookie of the Year contest.
